Speckle contrast optical tomography (SCOT) measures three-dimensional blood flow maps in deep tissue. This method promises the use of inexpensive detectors to obtain good signal-to-noise ratio, with a high-density approach. However, so far it has been demonstrated in small animals. Here we present a functional high-density speckle contrast optical tomography (HD-fSCOT) for functional neuroimaging of the adult brain during sensorimotor stimulation. To demonstrate the capabilities to measure deep tissue blood flow, bold subject was measured during finger tapping with contralateral and ipsilateral hand, where high change in cerebral blood flow was observed for the contralateral activation. This new approach paves the way for new applications for neuroimaging.
