When physiological condition inside skin tissue changes by such as aging and skin diseases, it affects light propagation as changes in absorption and scattering parameters in skin tissue and, thus, the spectral reflectance on skin surface. To analyze quantitatively the light propagation inside skin tissue, Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) is commonly used. And to ascertain condition inside skin tissue, it is important to estimate optical parameters in skin tissue. Commonly, light propagation in skin tissue is discussed in a three-layered skin tissue model of epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue. However skin tissue has a more complicated structure than the three layers. We have developed the method to estimate absorption and scattering parameters in skin tissue by using MCS with the nine-layered skin tissue model. In this paper, the spectral reflectance database was constructed by MCS and absorption and scattering parameters of skin tissue were estimated using a data mining method. But there was a problem that multiple combinations of parameters can be a solution for producing the similar spectral reflectance curves. Therefore, we evaluated the validity of estimated parameters of skin tissue in the constructed spectral reflectance database. We confirmed the usefulness for estimating the absorption and scattering parameters in skin tissue except for scattering in the deeper layers of skin tissue.
